Sri Lanka is finest destination for all tourists in around the world. Most of people visits sri Lanka because of weather, tourist attractive places and cheap cost for accommodation and travel. As a sri Lankan, this is a real paradise in earth. There are many places to visit when you travel sri Lanka. However, if you like warm weather you should definitely travel Mirissa(මිරිස්ස).

Mirissa is located in down south in sri lanka and it’s about 150km from capital city to Mirissa. Mainly resting in warm beaches and whales and dolphin watching are the main actives when tourists come to Mirissa.

By taxi or private or personal transport

There are so many taxi companies which directly provide their service from Colombo to Mirissa. Its about less than 40USD to go Mirissa. you should have cooperation deal with taxi drivers to get discount from since most of taxi drivers and Buddhist and humble for every tourist they will not charge unfair prices from foreigners

By public transport

There are two methods of public transport for travel by Bus or train. both are very cheap compare to use private transports.

Buses are frequently travel from Colombo to Mirissa. Because of new highway its take only one and half minutes to reach Mirissa. The highest bus fair to Mirissa is Rs.200/- (USD 1.13). if you have a huge luggage’s you can pay additional small amount to bus conductor then they will arrange place to put your luggage’s. if the bus goes to only city area you can get three-wheeler (TukTuk).

If you didn’t get any seat from the bus just talk to local commuter, they will offer their seat for you. Funny thing Is most of local commuters might talk and share their food with you. That will be a great experience for the tourists.
There are 6 train trips from Colombo to Mirissa. But compare to bus service trains are more comfortable. before come to sri Lanka you can book your two-way train tickets with less costs. you can either get second class ticket or third-class tickets. Its take more than two hours to reach Mirissa by train. Since it’s a long ride you should book train tickets.

Since two different monsoons seasons weather is completely unpredictable in Sri Lanka. But tourism season is starts from March to December. During this period’s roads are full with tourists and local guides. Since the weather is hot in down south you can enjoy the sunset.

According to weather forecasts April to June might be hottest time in down south. due to monsoons, rain season will start from July to November you shouldn’t travel in this period.

This is worth to watch when you visit Mirissa so you can see sunset through threes however its not far from main beach. It’s about 30 minutes’ walk from main beach side. So there are two ways to reach this place walk from main beach along to past parrot rock then you can the location or use Mirissa main road to reach this location

Whales watching 

Mirissa (Sri Lanka) is the cheapest place to watch whales compare to other countries. Its approximately about Rs.6000/- (USD 34) per person. This will be a marvels experience to watch blue whales from live eyes. November to April is the best month for whales watching. Due to monsoon’s there will not be much tours. even if there is a tour it might be cancelled due to worse weather conditions.

Secret beach is a little heaven in Mirissa. Since most of local and foreign people visited this is no more secret beach. This is the busiest beach in down south because people would like see this beach. Beach waves are quite strong on the other side. This is 20 minutes away from main beach. You would love it when you go there. 

Scuba diving and snorkeling

There are placdes in Mirissa for scuba diving and snorkeling. You can see aquatic life in your live eyes. There are large tropical fish in this area and you can most of grey color corals. however, it is about Rs. 10,973.73 (USD 60) full day diving. There are so many diving schools which provides equipment’s for diving .
